Vegan MoFo: Passion for Peanut Butter

9 Oct

I really only have two weaknesses, puppies and peanut butter.  I absolutely melt at the sight of a puppy and I often reflect that I would have been soooo easy to kidnap as a child.  My other weakness is a jar of peanut butter, I absolutely loooove peanut butter and there are many a evenings I spent eating out of jar that I’m not too proud of.  So in honour of VeganMoFo, I thought I’d dedicate a post to my favourite food that comes in jar form.

My favourite peanut butters:

The Classic:

Some new favourites:

White Chocolate Wonderful  When I was in the states recently I picked up two jars of peanut butter that I always hear so much about.  It’s not the we can’t get Peanut Butter & Co here, it’s just pretty darn pricey and when I saw jars of this stuff going for $2.99 down south, I knew I had to finally give it a try.  I’m now regretting I didn’t buy more than two jars, the White Chocolate Wonderful is so deliciously amazing.  Admittedly I haven’t done anything special with it as I’ve been mostly eating it out of the jar.

The second Peanut Butter & Co jar I picked up was the Mighty Maple variety which I thought appealed to my Canadian-ness.  This was also another exceptional jar of peanut butter with its lovely hints of maple flavour.

Peanut Butter Accessories I Covet:

Peanut Butter Machine!  Can you imagine what I could do with this??  Well, make peanut butter.  But what kinds of peanut butter??  It would be up to me, muah!

Peanut Butter & Co.  I would proudly tote my lunch to work in this.

My favourite things to do with Peanut Butter:

Bake!  Specifically these-
Peanut Butter Oatmeal Gigantoid Cookies
Peanut Butter Balls

Eat out of the jar!  (Shhh, sometimes I throw chocolate chips in a jar and proceed to eat with a spoon with whatever dignity I can manage to salvage.)

And finally you absolutely must visit bjorked off. Evan is probably the biggest fan of peanut butter ever. Even more than me. For Vegan Mofo, every post he writes is dedicated to peanut butter! Every post! Check it out, he makes the most amazing peanut butter desserts.

Oh, maple… I haven’t seen that one yet. Maybe I’ll have to look harder. It just sounds so yummy.

Now this is my kind of post- one dedicated to peanut butter! I’m so jealous you got White Chocolate Wonderful. I was trying all of the PB&Co flavors, and when I got to that one, all the stores in my area discontinued it!!! I don’t know if the company stopped making it or what, but no stores around here sell it anymore.

I love peanut butter so much. My new Whole Foods has a nut butter station with four machines: peanut butter, cashew butter, almond butter, and dark chocolate peanut butter. It’s pretty much the best thing that ever happened to me. Instead of eating it out of the jar, I’ve taken to melting it with some chocolate chips to pour over a banana (hey, it’s somewhat healthy, right?!)

I MUST have that PB maker! I just have to have it!! Oh the possibilities! You just gave me something to add to my wish list!

That PB maker went directly onto my Amazon wish list! Actually, I put 2 on my wish list because we have peanut allergies in my family, so I’d *obviously* need one for PB and one for other nut butters. 😉 I’ve tried one variety of PB & Co’s line (the spicy one), but not the 2 you profiled here. The spicy one is delicious!

there’s nothing better than peanut butter.
I saw amazon is going to start carrying the pb machine, actually they’re out of stock already, but haven’t seen reviews yet.

Oh shit. I didn’t know about the Maple kind! I NEED THAT! I really do. I love the white chocolate wonderful and the dark chocolate dreams (it’s gonna be in my post tonight too!). And the Spicy kind is okay too…but Maple?! Yum!

What’s the White Chocolate Wonderful like? I tried the dark chocolate and liked it (okay, at it for every meal) but found it craaaazy sweet. So I would imagine the white is even sweeter. Is it worth it? Should I take the plunge?

I’m so jealous of anyone who can get their hands on Peanut Butter with flavours!!! I am such a peanut butter addict (and thank you for sharing your guilty secret, mine is to whizz a tsp of rice syrup with a tablespoon of peanut butter in the microwave until it’s melted…if I’m feeling chocolatey I’ll throw in some choc dots…it’s great eaten by the spoonful or drizzled on ice cream where it sort of turns to caramel…..I’m glad I’m not alone :P)
